In vitro, penumbra BDEVs (PEVs) exacerbated recipient neuronal damage, intensifying apoptosis and dendritic injury during oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation.
In vivo tracing confirmed PEV transport via anatomical projections to remote thalamic neurons, where internalization triggered synaptic loss and apoptosis in distal thalamic nuclei.
